week #-01 – @rainerklute / Rainer

Who are you and where do you come from?
I am a 42 years old freelance graphic designer from Hamburg, the second largest city in Germany. Furthermore I am the local representative of the „Alliance of German Designers (AGD)“ and the „InDesign User Group Hamburg“. I am married and we have a 6 years old son (from behind: „Six and a half, Daddy!“). I really love the swedish soul, lifestyle, and design language. So maybe – if I convince my family – we move to Sweden someday.

Share your twitter account with us and tell us what you are twittering about:
@rainerklute about design issues, Sweden, Hamburg and sometimes something else.

Tell us about your creative side:
I studied history (!) in Hamburg on my way to become a journalist. But soon I noticed that writing was not my profession instead of creating the best design for a text/magazine/poster/whatever. Self-studying, internships and work for advertising agencies helped me developing my skills. Now 18 years in business I design all kind of things for all kind of clients, especially from the science and public sector. In the last years, strategic planning and consulting became more and more important to me and my clients. So my job description is „to think ahead & design“. To emphasize my „swedish“ way to work I have a swedish domain (but sorry, everything’s written in German): http://klute.se

What inspires you?
Looking around with my eyes wide opened – offline and online.

Time travel: Where would you go to?
University of Leeds,UK. February 14th, 1970. Please google if you want to know why…

Name your favorite present book:
Sorry, I do not have the time and peace to read books during „normal, everyday life“. I rather read the best german newspaper „Süddeutsche Zeitung“. Last summer holidays I read „Defining the Wind Signed“ by Scott Huler about the life and work of Francis Beaufort.

Which tweeter would you recommend for @createandrotate and why?
@ilovetypography to hear about life and work in Ho-Chin-Minh-City, Vietnam.
