week #03 – @piktografika / Patrik

Who are you and where do you come from?
My name is Patrik Boberg and I’m a freelance illustrator and designer. I often use the alias Piktografika for my work. I’m from Sweden and I now live and work in Stockholm.

Share your twitter account with us and tell us what you are twittering about:
@piktografika: I tweet about my work and about my life. Lots of illustration and design related things and there’s also some tweeting about other things that inspire me like music, movies, architecture, food and coffee. My tweeting is a bit of a random mess actually…

Tell us about your creative side:
I worked as an art teacher for several years before realizing I really wanted to seriously make some kind of art myself. I studied design at a school here in Stockholm and in 2007 I started my freelancing. At the beginning I was mostly doing print and web design. But after a while I got more into illustration. Now I see myself as an illustrator first but I really like to do the graphic design jobs as well.

As an illustrator I think I’m beginning to find my own voice or whatever you want to call it now. You can find my illustration work on my website: www.piktografika.se

What inspires you?
Everything that I see, everything that happens to me, everyone I meet. Everything can actually be some kind of inspiration I think. But here’s some more specific sources of inspiration: Nature. Good music. Arty movies. Comic books. Museums. Travelling. People who think differently.

Time travel: Where would you go to?
1973. I would like to be at the front row of David Bowie’s final Ziggy Stardust show at Hammersmith Odeon in London.

Name your favorite present book:
There’s a trilogy of books by the swedish author duo Mats Strandberg and Sara Bergmark Elfgren that I’m very excited about at the moment. The first two books have been published and are called „Cirkeln“ and „Eld“ in swedish. They’re translated into several other languages as well so they should be fairly easy to find and enjoy even for non-swedes.

Which tweeter would you recommend for @createandrotate and why?
@BenIllustrator because he is a wise illustration master.
