week #28 – @gracesandford / Grace

Grace

Who are you and where do you come from?
I’m Grace, and i’m from a very small city called Lincoln in the UK!

Share your twitter account with us and tell us what you are twittering about:
@gracesandford. I tweet about my illustrations, about my degree and sometimes about tea and David Bowie…if you’re lucky!

Tell us about your creative side:
I’m an illustrator! I love to draw, draw, draw…and draw! When i’m not drawing i’m painting or scribbling more ideas. I strongly believe in traditional elements to art which I incorporate into my own work. Plus I love to draw characters that make people smile!

What inspires you?
I know it sounds cheesy, but everything! The brilliant illustrators/artists out there, everyone on my degree, listening to David Bowie (and great music in general), my family, my friends. However walking into the children’s section of a book shop and seeing all the amazing published books inspires me the most. I want to be on that shelf more than anything!

Time travel: Where would you go to?
That’s a tough question! I would love to go back in time and meet a dinosaur (to shake a T-rex’s tiny hand!)

Name your favorite present book:
My favourite book currently is „Chickens Can’t See In The Dark“ by Kristyna Litten. The illustrations are so charming and warming. I especially love all the small illustrations of carrot related cooking!

Which tweeter would you recommend for @createandrotate and why?
That’s tough…there are so many interesting people out there! Probably Colin West @mooseandmouse . He’s incredibly positive and helpful to all illustrators out there, ones starting up and ones who are already successful. He has written and illustrated children’s books for many years now, and has much wisdom to pass on to others!
